Park 1

Residents enjoy a day out at the Roane County park.

Sandra Knaff retires after 34 years of amazing years of service to the elders of Harriman Care and Rehab.  Sandra is a woman who inspired many, taught all, and loved unconditionally.

Volunteer appreciation was a special event this year.  Everyone gathered round and shared a few precious things about themselves.  We also had a specialized song by Chaplain Tom Hicks, singing and piano playing from the Saint Mary’s Baptist Church and so many blessings.  The most shared blessings were salvation, family, and time together.  Thank you to all our volunteers for all that you do.

As part of Harriman Care and Rehab’s commitment to quality of life, Mr. Martin, and Mr. Arney went to Panama City last week.  The gentlemen enjoyed a dolphin show, Margaritaville, the ocean, hula shows and so much more!  Mr. Arney says, “This is better than I ever imagined.  I had never been to the ocean or even on a plane.”

Our ladies enjoyed a day of glamour and beauty.

At Harriman Care and Rehab we try to make our therapy fun and functional!  We recently went on a therapy outing to Lowe’s and Gondolier.  During this outing our residents were able to experience shopping and eating out in preparation for safe discharge home.  Occupational, physical, and speech therapists targeted problem solving, ambulation, self feeding, and communication skills out in the community.  We purchased vegetables and flowers to plant in our therapy garden, which is used for fine motor coordination, balance, problem solving, and cooking activities.  Our residents had a lot of fun and we are looking forward to our next therapy outing!
